چکیده
In a series of pre-registered online studies, we aimed to elucidate the magnitude effect general sustainability labels on U.K. consumers’ food choices. Four were displayed: ‘Sustainably sourced’ , ‘Locally ‘Environmentally friendly’ and ‘Low greenhouse gas emissions’ . To ensure reliable results, contingency valuation elicitation was used alongside novel analytical approach provide triangulation evidence: Multilevel-modelling compared each label vs. no-label; Poisson-modelling label. Socioeconomic status, environmental awareness, health motivations, nationalism/patriotism included in our predictive models. Exp.1 ( N = 140) showed labelled products chosen 344% more than non-labelled consumers willing-to-pay ?£0.11 more, although no difference between types found. 735) chose Sustainably sourced Locally ?20% often but ?£0.03 only for products. Exp.2 direct replication. 149) virtually identical results (labels willingness-to-pay ?£0.10 more), as did 931) with ?£0.04 Environmental concern (specifically ‘propensity act’) consistent predictor preference Findings suggest front-of-pack ‘green labels’ may yield substantive increases consumer choice relatively modest environmentally-sustainable foods. Specifically, references ‘sustainable’ or ‘local’ sourcing have largest impact. • Contingency test four labels. Multilevel Poisson models offer analyses assessing green effects. Labelled >300% Consumers willing pay The most influential.

متن کاملConsumers' responses to front-of-pack labels that vary by interpretive content.
Previous research has shown that front-of-pack labels (FoPLs) can assist people to make healthier food choices if they are easy to understand and people are motivated to use them. There is some evidence that FoPLs providing an assessment of a food's health value (evaluative FoPLs) are easier to use than those providing only numerical information on nutrients (reductive FoPLs). Recently, a new e...
